1 cup white cornmeal
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups scalded milk or water
2 tablespoons molasses {optional}
Butter {optional}
Mix cornmeal and salt.
Gradually stir in milk or water and molasses, if used.
Spread batter 1/4 inch deep in a greased shallow pan or skillet.
If desired, dot with small bits of butter.
Bake in a hot oven about 20 minutes until crisp.
Yields 6 servings.
